The American Breed Survey Society For German Shepherd Dogs, Grant Mann, Chairman, compiled and published this book. The book covers German Shepherd Dog Surveys conducted in 1958 and in 1959, and were published in 1960.
The book has 138 pages of German Shepherd survey data and photographs of prominent dogs of the day.
This was undertaken by prominant German Shepherd breeders, exhibitors, or judges, who evaluated a number of German Shepherds and publishing their evaluations of the dogs.

Author Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge was among the foremost breeders and exhibitors of the German Shepherd Dog, and her Giralda prefix was known world-wide. Her involvement with purebred dogs and the art of the dog is legendary, as is her Morris and Essex Kennel Club show. Together with co-author Josephine Rine, this book is a fine presentation of the breed, covering many aspects and facets of the German Shepherd Dog.
